Dr. Motohiro Sakai is Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Miyazaki, Japan. His research focuses on psychological support and interventions for school nonattendance and prolonged social isolation (hikikomori). The background to these issues is deeply intertwined with child anxiety and complex parental and community factors.
He has led the development of Community-Wide Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CWCBT), a system that includes online CBT programs, family-based interventions, and community support systems in collaboration with local governments and partner organizations.
In terms of family support, he is planning to utilize the OSI framework to conduct preventative and early interventions before individuals fall into school non-attendance or social isolation.
