
Dr. Arisa Yamaguchi, M.D., MPH
Pediatrician, Child Psychiatrist, and Public Health Researcher
Dr. Arisa Yamaguchi, M.D., MPH, is a pediatrician, child psychiatrist, and public health researcher committed to advancing child well-being, rights, and mental health across clinical, research, and policy settings. She currently serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Social Medicine at the National Center for Child Health and Development and as a Policy Advisor to Japan’s Children and Families Agency Clinically, she provides specialized consultation for children and families facing adversity at the Children’s Consultation Center.
She is board-certified as a Pediatric Specialist, Pediatric Psychiatry Specialist, and Child Mental Health Specialist in Japan, supported by extensive experience in general pediatrics, developmental disorders, and child protection.
Dr. Yamaguchi earned her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where her capstone project, Listening to Children Matters, received the Award of Distinction. She completed her M.D. at the University of Yamaguchi and holds a B.A. in International Relations from Ritsumeikan University.
Her research focuses on child rights, positive childhood experiences, trauma-informed care, and the social determinants of child well-being. She has authored peer-reviewed articles, edited volumes, and books, and leads training and advocacy initiatives to strengthen child-centered, evidence-based practice in Japan.
