
Isabel Matute Willemsen

Isabel Matute Willemsen is a sociologist, MPH and PhD© in Public Health. She worked at the Chilean Ministry of Health, where she led the development of Regional Diagnoses with Social Determinants of Health approach (SDH). She contributed to technical guidelines and first national report on non-communicable disease surveillance. Since 2012, she is professor and researcher at the Center for Epidemiology and Health Policies (CEPS), UDD. She has also consulted for UNAIDS and PAHO. In 2017, she coordinated the development of measurement tools for the first National Survey on Child and Early Adolescent Health. Between 2020 and 2024, she was co-investigator on the Fondecyt project “Solving the Unsolved” focused on genomic strategies for rare diseases (RD). Her research focuses on equity, SDH, quality of life, caregiving, and rare diseases. Her contribution to the project is related to her expertise in research methodologies and knowledge generation, which are fundamental for Work Package 1.
